He pops up as playing it constantly (when he's meant to be working) so I can imagine he's pretty good.

I don't play anymore, apart of times in the summer with step brother, he showed me Detroit become human, and I've played start to finish. He told me that I almost broke the game because of how irregular and weird my storyline was. Couple of times I did not know where to go... it was eye opening for me, like.. holy shit, I'm getting old isn't I? I felt that I'm playing how my parents would play in my youth.

I thought that sounded awesome but the reviews were average - if not poor. What is it *really* like?

I haven't played it myself but apparently they patched it into being pretty good.

It's very much in the vein of Minecraft where there are some neat features but a lot of it is finding your own fun.

The hugeness of it, I think is it's appeal. It doesn't do any particular aspect of itself best. For example there are space ship fighting games that are a lot better. There are trading games that are better. There are fighting on derelict space hulk's that are better and there are fps games that are better, but not all at the same time. IMO, it's a game to play with a glass of scotch and your feet up. Definitely not up everyone's alley, but it scratches an itch with me.

Usually I'm looking for 3D shooting style games for PC. Tried many of them including very recent ones, last memorable titles for me were:
- Far Cry New Dawn
- RAGE 2
- DOOM Eternal

Sometimes I burn some time with
- Starcraft Brood War (no online playing lately, only against multiple AI)
- PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES

I end up playing a lot of single player strategy games these days...

I burned out on FPS games by the mid-00s and I'm a reformed EverQuest guild/raid leader, so I generally stay pretty far away from MMOs, or even anything really to do with large groups of people.

My most recent games played from this year are:
Crusader Kings III
We the Revolution
Surviving Mars
Cities: Skylines
Railway Empire
Life is Strange 2
Middle Earth: Shadow of War

Even though I have Far Cry 5 I still play Far Cry 3 - which I think is one of the greatest FPS of all time

I've never played it online. I like having a save and then trying to beat the game differently (kill one race first, using mostly one attack etc)

Yeah. But also seeing if I can do it without sending guardians in to destroy buildings beforehand.

I do find it intensely satisfying to send in wave after wave of the same species of zerg. They get annihilated time after time but they also go forward and destroy a few buildings each time and eventually you get somewhere and they are just left with aircraft or something
